Two health related articles - scary...

Gov't-Run Health Care Death Sentence in AZ: No More Liver Transplants for Hep-C Patients
(CNSNews.com) - Arizona's Medicaid agency will no longer pay for liver transplants for patients with Hepatitis C; certain heart and bone marrow transplants; or lung and pancreas transplants. The state agency says "significant fiscal challenges" also will eliminate other benefits for adults. A group that advocates for viral hepatitis patients is outraged by the state’s decision to "deprive" hepatitis C patients of liver-transplant coverage, calling the move "a death sentence."

HHS: Government-Mandated Electronic Health Records Need ‘NOT’ Include Cancer Diagnoses--As Opposed to Obesity Ratings
(CNSNews.com) – Physicians will not be required to include a cancer diagnosis on the electronic health records that all Americans are supposed to have by 2014 under the terms of the Democrats' economic stimulus law, according to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, a division of the Health and Human Services Department. By contrast, HHS is mandating that all EHRs include a person’s Body Mass Index.

Record Debt Reducing GDP, Costing As Many As 1 Million U.S. Jobs

Administration: Debt to Reach $13.6 Trillion – 93.1% of GDP This Year

With understandably little fanfare and late on Friday night during a Congressional recess, the U.S. Treasury Department met its legal obligation to issue its “Annual Report on Public Debt.” The document, which came out on the same day the Labor Department reported virtually no private sector jobs were created last month, contained more bad news for the American people –as the national debt will soar to record levels. Citing recent expert testimony, Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) noted the national debt will be so large this year that it will impede job creation.

“The President’s economic experts say a 1 percent increase in GDP can create almost one million jobs, and that 1 percent is what experts think we are losing because of the debt’s massive drag on our economy,” said Camp. “The failure of this Congress to even produce a budget, let alone get spending under control, is doing direct harm to our economy. Washington must start paying for its spending with something other than more debt and more lost jobs.”

On page 8 of the report, the Administration estimates the total debt for Fiscal Year 2010 will reach $13.6 trillion, or 93.1 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). University of Maryland Professor Carmen Reinhart, who is also a member of both the National Bureau of Economic Research and Center for Economic Policy Research, recently warned the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility that debt loads above 90 percent of GDP result in a reduction in economic growth of one percentage point. According to the Administration’s Romer-Bernstein economic model, a one percent increase in GDP could create 979,000 jobs.

“The debt is preventing us from creating the jobs America needs,” said Camp. “This report is yet another warning that Congress cannot continue to pass unpaid-for spending without further hurting our recovery.”

A Gallup poll released Friday showed that Americans are keenly aware of the harm the debt is causing. A total of 79% of Americans now view the federal debt as a serious threat to the “future well being” of the country – an identical number to those viewing terrorism as a serious threat.

Byron York - Democrats threaten companies hit hard by health care bill

Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, has summoned some of the nation's top executives to Capitol Hill to defend their assessment that the new national health care reform law will cost their companies hundreds of millions of dollars in health insurance expenses. Waxman is also demanding that the executives give lawmakers internal company documents related to health care finances -- a move one committee Republicans describes as "an attempt to intimidate and silence opponents of the Democrats' flawed health care reform legislation."

On Thursday and Friday, the companies -- so far, they include AT&T, Verizon, Caterpillar, Deere, Valero Energy, AK Steel and 3M -- said a tax provision in the new health care law will make it far more expensive to provide prescription drug coverage to their retired employees. Now, both retirees and current employees of those companies are wondering whether the new law could mean reduced or canceled benefits for them in the future.

The news is an embarrassment for Democrats. As President Obama and congressional leaders tout the purported benefits of the new health care law, some of the nation's biggest companies are saying it will mean higher costs and fewer benefits -- not exactly what Democrats want to hear in the days after their historic victory.

So Waxman has ordered the executives to explain themselves at an April 21 hearing before the Energy and Commerce Committee's investigative subcommittee. That subcommittee just happens to be chaired by Rep. Bart Stupak.

Copenhagen Summit Turned Junket?

Talk about hypocrisy! Talk about showing elitism... these people have become the King George court of our time. They live in their own world, holding their hankies to their noses to keep from smelling the masses, dole out alms to those in the gutters to ease their conscious and they believe they know more and know better than anyone else. I am so sick of the hypocrisy.

Exclusive: At Least 20 Members of Congress Made the Trip to Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen Last Month

Few would argue with the U.S. having a presence at the Copenhagen Climate Summit. But wait until you hear what we found about how many in Congress got all-expense paid trips to Denmark on your dime. C

BS investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports that cameras spotted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the summit. She called the shots on who got to go. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and embattled Chairman of the Tax Committee Charles Rangel were also there...

Homeland Security Clears Terrorists To Fly and Immigrate

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is asking their more than 30,000 national supporters to contact their members of Congress today to demand immediate Congressional investigations to determine why the Department of Homeland Security is continuing to give valid U.S. visas to millions of people on the terrorism watch lists, including the Detroit Flight 253 bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

ALIPAC called for the termination or resignation of Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano earlier this year, when it was discovered her department was instructing police officers to scrutinize Americans concerned about popular issues such as illegal immigration, taxes, and government spending as possible domestic terrorists. Napolitano's "advisories" to police were based on strange Internet blogs and political sources, instead of traditionally accepted law enforcement methods.

"At this time the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government under Bush, and now Obama, appears consistent in efforts to jeopardize the security, prosperity, and freedoms of the American public," said William Gheen. "Existing laws passed by Congress requires Homeland Security and Immigration Services to screen and reject all visa applicants on the terrorism watch lists. The Detroit bomber was just the latest proof that millions of visa applicants are not being properly checked, despite earlier revelations about this problem. That is why we are calling on Congress to investigate and correct this situation immediately."

On 8/23/2006, Sara A. Carter of the Washington Times revealed a major scandal with evidence that 75 percent of applicants for immigrant benefits such as green cards, work visas, and a host of other documents, were not being screened against terrorism watch lists or being denied when they were found on the lists. According to sources from inside DHS and USCIS, millions of immigration documents were issued to people that had not been checked against the lists.

ALIPAC is encouraging the public to renew calls for the dismissal of Janet Napolitano, along with demands for Congressional hearings to investigate those responsible for the massive and systematic disregard for existing immigration and national security laws passed by Congress.

"Janet Napolitano has been busy trying to pass Amnesty for illegal aliens and casting suspicion on American citizens who are fed up with Government corruption and failures, instead of doing the job of protecting Americans against terrorist threats," said Gheen. "Each day the evidence all around us grows that the Executive Branch of the U.S. government has been compromised and hijacked by political interests that are not empowered by the Constitution." said Gheen. "Giving aid to militant enemies of the United States at a time of war is an act of Treason, and we need Congress to find out who the traitors are and how many thousands of visas these government employees have given to people on the terrorist watch lists. Those thousands of visa holders who are currently in the U.S. and on the terrorism lists need to be located and removed immediately! Those who are responsible for issuing the visas should be fired and possibly charged with crimes. All new visa applicants must be properly screened."

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has the archive materials which show the prior disregard of the terrorism watch lists, as well as revelations that TSA has cleared illegal aliens to work in airports, U.S. air marshals have been ordered not to hinder illegal aliens flying into the U.S. in large groups, and illegal aliens have been cleared to work on commercial jet aircraft engines. This latest scandal involving the U.S. visa issued to the terrorism suspect from Detroit is only the latest in a large pattern of high level government officials betraying the American public on numerous laws designed to protect the American public.

Wonder what it took to buy him off this time???

Hate those LOUD commercials?

Who doesn't hate the way the TV blasts commercials? I understand the logic of doing so... they think, they know, that we're going to get up and go to the kitchen, the bathroom, that we'll be talking or doing something during the commercials. They make 'em loud so there's a better chance of having us hear them when we make our side-trips. At least that's the way I've always reasoned it out.

If you're sitting in the room and don't leave then most of us scramble for the remote so we can either turn down the volume or mute the TV. Then, when the program comes back on we miss the first parts while we flip the noise back on to a reasonable level.

Much as I dislike the practice of the ad-makers increasing the decibel level to intolerable during commercials, I do NOT think it is the place of the government to jump into the fray. If enough of us have a problem, if enough of us let them know we're muting the TV, not listening in protest, or whatever, then we can stop the noise.

However, in typical Democrat fashion, they now want the government to get involved in what should be a free-market choice... argggghhhhh...

Eshoo, Whitehouse lead crusade against loud TV ads
By Kim Hart
Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) is no longer alone on her quest to bring down the volume of loud TV commercials. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) has joined in the crusade to keep ads from blasting us out of our living rooms every 10 minutes.
